DOI Bureau of Indian Affairs: Indian Highway Safety Occupant Protection Grant
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (“BIA”), Office of Justice Services (“OJS”), Indian Highway Safety Program (“IHSP”) solicits proposals for implementing traffic safety programs and projects which are designated to reduce the number of traffic crashes, deaths, injuries and property damage within these populations. Indian Highway Safety Grants are reimbursable grants available to federally recognized tribes.
The 2023 funding round is focused on Child Passenger Safety Seat Grants.
Funds may be used for:
- Purchasing car seats and supplies
- Distribution of car seats
- Car seat inspections
- Checkpoints
- Roadside clinics
- Trainings
- Community events
- Distribution of educational materials
The funding amount is not specified. Budgets must support the project being proposed.
Deadline for funding is: May 1, 2023.
Eligible entities should take the following steps to access funding: apply on www.Grants.gov. All grant documents should be sent to ojs_indian_highway_safety@bia.gov.
